Podcast Advertising
The social relationships podcasters build with their listeners over time makes it an ideal medium for high-value advertising. Statista research shows that six out of ten podcast listeners have made a purchase from advertisers they have heard on podcasts, with respondents describing podcast ds as engaging, relevant, and memorable.
The majority of listeners even say they wouldn’t mind a few more ads to ensure their favourite shows can continue.
There are two main types of podcast advertising: spot ads and host reads.
Spot ads are usually 30 second audio adverts pre-recorded and distributed to many different podcasts serving your target demographic. These have the advantage of being cheaper per impression and can be distributed to countless different podcasts, wherever your audience are listening.
Host reads are longer form adverts read specifically by the host or hosts of a podcast of your choosing. These cost more and have a longer lead time but tend to have a greater impact since they form a more natural part of the podcast and are delivered by a familiar voice the audience trusts.
Nope! We can make the creative following your brief. You retain full sign off on the audio – nothing goes out without your say so.
Where host-reads are concerned, we will write a script based on your brief before the podcast producers record and create the advert. Both the script and final audio are subject to your approval.
We offer all sorts of different targeting including:
We developed a two-pronged approach utilising both spot ads and host reads. Spot ads were a useful tool to reach a broad audience of news and politics podcast listeners who would naturally be interested in the content Sky News were creating.
We identified a secondary audience of intelligent, well-educated women who listen to podcasts, but may not yet have a weekly politics podcast. This is a specific demographic that would benefit from the support of their favourite podcast host.
The podcast advertising campaign formed part of a successful launch for Electoral Dysfunction which became a regular fixture in top 10 of the Apple Podcasts News and Politics charts.
